The pupils and staff of Tibshelf Community School, Derbyshire and Babington Community College, Leicester, whilst immersed in the briefing process of the design of their new BSF schools, visited Northampton Academy by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios as part of CABE’s ‘How Places Work’. As part of the visit the pupils gave feedback based on their experience of Northampton Academy, thoughts on their own school and what they would like to be considered for their new school. The feedback was structured using some common design themes established by The Sorrell Foundation.
The feedback process is transferable to other building visits to help focus the users’ needs. It also helps the design team to learn from users to inform the next generation of projects.
